The department has been publishing its spend data since August 2010 and would be interested to know whether there are any innovative applications being developed as a result of this.

I think it's extreemly important for transparency on all corporate enviroments

It's really important to publish data and keep it open. That way other professionals, such as small businesses could design and build websites and apps that use this data in a positive way. Also, for example with the fire service on this website you can see expenditure. It could present an opportunity for different fireservices to share data and information from this website in an effort to maybe re design or to improve their services and see where money is being wasted, or where resources could be pooled together.

I think there needs to be more information on how transparency might work and apply to us. We look for work within government all the time and it is just so difficult to understand what to do.

I'm surprised this has only been done starting 2010. I appreciate the transparency with regards to contracts and tenders because this will deter corruption and awarding of large contracts based on personal favors/relationships & not what is best for the taxpayers.
