  • Consultation: Making 'The Code of Recommended Practice for Local Authorities on Data Transparency' enforceable by regulations

This thread gives those affected by the Code the opportunity to discuss and comment on the consultation document.

The Code of Recommended Practice for Local Authorities on Data Transparency was issued in September 2011. It aims to put power into people's hands by making data generated by local authorities available and accessible to the public.

We are now consulting on making it a legal requirement to publish data specified in the Code (through regulations under section 3 of the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980).

The Code will be uploaded to the site for a period of 8 weeks (until Thursday 20th December 2012), during this time we would be grateful for your feedback.

Comments can also be emailed to Transparencycode@communities.gsi.gov.uk
